Notes From Neale

Hello, Everyone…

We’ve begun a series of articles here in which we seek to contextualize this business of “the Law of Attraction” within the CWG framework. For this exercise I am turning to the remarkable CWG book, Happier Than God.

Today, as promised last week, we’re going to look at what to do when it “looks as if” Personal Creation is not working. When that happens it is only because the Energy of Attraction has brought you what you inadvertently selected rather than what you thought you chose.

If the power of creation was not always ON, if the process was not always working, you could have a single very positive thought about something and that outcome would be made manifest in your reality without fail. But the process works all the time, not just part of the time, and is fed by that which you feel most deeply, most consistently. So a single very positive thought in a whirlwind of not-so-positive ideas and projections is not likely to produce the desired result.

The trick is to stay positive in a sea of negativity. The trick is to know that the process is working even when it looks as if it is not.

In my last installment I told you I would be giving you a tool with which to do this. It is an incredible technique. It works every time.

The Miracle That Will Change Your Life

Staying positive when surrounded by—even when submerged in—what others might call “negativity” is easier than you think. So here is The Trick. Here is The Tool. Here is The Incredible Technique…

Bring an immediate end to judgment.

“Judge not by appearances.”

When you bring an end to judgment, you bring an end to an entire way of living. This is no small thing. This is a life-changing shift in attitude and behavior. This is a miracle.

But how does one perform this miracle? That is the question to which everyone wants an answer. Please, then, pay very close attention to what I am going to tell you now…

The way to move out of judgment is to move into gratitude.

That is such an important corollary that it should be plastered all over your house and everywhere in your world. On your bathroom mirror. On the refrigerator door. On your car’s rear-view mirror. Above your computer screen. You might even tattoo it on your left wrist—or at least engrave it on a bracelet that you wear there:

THE WAY TO MOVE OUT OF JUDGMENT IS TO MOVE INTO GRATITUDE.

This means remaining grateful for every outcome. Every outcome.

This is about saying “Thank you, God” for even those things that you are sure you did not consciously choose and that you are very clear you do not want.

Somebody once said, “Happiness is not getting what you want, it is wanting what you get.” That “somebody” was profoundly right.

Gratitude is the miracle cure for every moment of dis-ease. It is the fastest way to dissolve anxiety, to heal disappointment, to replace negativity with positivity. It is the shortest route from a dead-end back to The Path. It is the connecting energy to God.

Try it some time.

The next time you are confronted with any undesired outcome, result, or experience, just stop. Stop right in the middle of whatever’s going on. Just…

…stop.

Close your eyes for the smallest moment and say inside your head, “Thank you, God.”

Take one good, deep breath and say it again.

“Thank you for this gift, and the treasure that it holds for me.”

Be assured that it does hold a treasure, even if you are not seeing it right now. Life will prove that to you, if you give it a chance.

The ‘GPS of the Brain’

When gratitude replaces judgment, peace spreads throughout your body, gentleness embraces your soul, wisdom fills your mind. Let gratitude replace judgment and your whole experience of life will take a turn for the better in five seconds.

In five seconds.

This is because attitude is everything. Attitude puts the course correction in life when you have stepped off The Path. Attitude is like the Map of the Mind. It is like the Global Positioning Satellite of the brain.

A negative attitude will send you down the road to unhappiness. There is no avoiding it. It will absolutely happen, and it doesn’t matter what the problem. A positive attitude will put you back on The Path to inner peace and happiness. Again, there is no avoiding it. It will absolutely happen, and it doesn’t matter what the problem.

Yet how can one move into gratitude when the circumstances or conditions presenting themselves are utterly miserable, desolate—or even life threatening?

By knowing that every moment in life is an unparalleled opportunity for you to inwardly declare, express and experience the Divinity that lies within you.

This is something that is not made clear by a simple announcement that there is such a thing as the Energy of Attraction. That fact must be explained, not merely revealed.

As I’ve said, the writing above and last week has come from the wonderful book Happier Than God. In that text, the Energy of Attraction is fully explained.

Love and Hugs,

Letters to the Editor

Dear Neale…I was forced to be a closed minded person, who read the bible and found it to be wonderful, but following that saved me and ruined my life. I love Jesus and God more than any other. You can ask them. lol. I was with my daughter after my husband’s death. Yahoo. And she wanted a book on Wicca that was not allowed with us, and I opened my mind and took her to the library, but I was searching for my own answers. On the shelf I chose all the books were aligned and the only one that was pulled forward was CWG-1. I saw it shine, I picked it up, and after I stopped crying while reading it I understood everything. Do you know really what that feels like when someone had broken your heart so bad you can’t breathe, then to find relief? Thank you. It truly made me a whole person. I love your work, and hope to help those I can. Sincerely…Caroline Thomas. P.S.–My daughter got her book and loved it, too.

Neale Responds

My dear Caroline…It is when I read messages such as yours that I realize once again what an extraordinary gift God has given the world in the CWG dialogues…and how humbly grateful I am for having been allowed to play a small role in that. Thank you for your lovely, lovely note.

I have published your letter here because I want other people to have a first-hand experience of the extraordinary healing and helping power of the Conversations with God material — so that they may know what they are putting into our world when they agree to offer us their support.

Ladies and Gentlemen, may I ask you for $3 for the non-profit Conversations with God Foundation? Just $3 from all of you reading this would help the Foundation so much in continuing its mission! Only $3 can change a life, such as Caroline Thomas’. Please go now to this link and help us with 300 pennies…yes?

It asks so little and it does so much.

With deep gratitude…

CwG Study Group Coordinator
Answers Your Questions

Are You a Know It All?

Each week, I receive emails from readers like you, who have been so inspired by the CwG material with others. They ask me about starting a CwG Study Group and sound so excited about it . . . yet, there seems to be one common concern that I see far too often. I’d like to address here, just in case it has ever crossed your mind and held you back from starting a CwG Study Group. What readers tell me is they aren’t sure they can facilitate a CwG Study Group because they don’t know all of the material well enough and think that they can’t answer questions for others in the group. Let me address this very simply. My answer is, “Great!” I’m glad you don’t.

When you begin a CwG Study Group, you are merely in the role of facilitator. That means you will take care of all of the logistics and make sure people know that your group exists. That’s it, plain and simple. In that role you can chose the book or audio to study, decide how often to meet, perhaps ask an opening question or lead a group prayer or meditation at the beginning of your meeting or simply assign that to someone else if you’d like to. As facilitator, you are in charge of getting everyone there and letting everyone know when it is time to leave. While you are having your CwG Study Group, you are a group member just as everyone else is. No one wants a “know it all” for a facilitator anyway. So, go ahead, start your group, ask your questions, learn, read, share and talk amongst the best of them. That’s what the CwG Study Group is all about. Enjoy yourself and the experience. If you have any questions, or would like to be listed once your group is active (meeting six times or more), let me know so that I may list you on our Web page.

And if you would like to know more about the material, join the Deep Study class which starts is a month…. I’m told there is still room for a few more. Go to: http://www.cwg.org/index.php?page=calendar&retreat=9 for more information.

Blessings to you,
Alyse

The Great Principles of Life

Notes From Neale

Hello, Everyone…

Last week I said that I would write about whatever you choose…and boy, did we get a ton of responses! So we’ve got a great agenda for the rest of the year here! Thanks for writing in!

One topic that kept reoccurring over and over again in your requests was The Law of Attraction. “Please, Neale, could you explain how the principle of ‘Attraction’ works, from the CWG point of view?” one letter said. “Does Conversations with God agree with The Secret?”

The answer is, well…yes and no. There is truth to the Law of Attraction as it is discussed in the movie and the book, The Secret, but there is more to it than that. I had a problem with The Secret in that it did not explain in any clear or compelling way the role that God plays in the Law of Attraction. In fact, the word “God” was not even mentioned in the film until around 3 minutes before the end of the movie–and then in only a very brief, cursory way.

So let me now contextualize this business of “attraction” with the CWG framework–which, as you know, is all about “God,” and God’s role in our life.

For this exploration I will be turning to the remarkable CWG book, Happier Than God. It says…

The Energy of Attraction is part of alarger system of cause-and-effect in the Universe. Talking about “attraction” as if it were a law unto itself is a little like talking about the law of gravity without discussing the physics explaining what gravity does, and why. Okay, so a thing drops. So what…?

Let us look, then, and look deeply, at the great principles of life.

Life expresses itself through:

1. The Energy of Attraction, which gives you power.

2. The Law of Opposites, which gives you opportunity.

3. The Gift of Wisdom, which gives you discernment.

4. The Joy of Wonder, which gives you imagination.

and,

5. The Presence of Cycles, which gives you eternity.

This larger system regulates the Process of Personal Creation–or what The Secret calls The Law of Attraction. You might even call this Larger System and this process that regulates the law, “God.”

This is a new thought to many people. Invite yourself to explore this idea, just for now. Could “God” really be, after all is said and done, a process? And could that process by the experience called Life? Is the Process of Personal Creation simply the playing out of life as it naturally expresses?

Life, I have come to understand, is God. It is God being God, and becoming what God is next going to Be. This is a complex and extraordinary system that includes a Process that produces an Expression called life.

This system is a circle. Imagine this circle in your mind. On this circle, life’s process produces life’s expression, life’s expression creates life’s experience, and life’s experience creates life’s process. One thing leads to another, which leads to another, which leads to another, in a never-ending cycle. It is all One.

Life as it is created is the process, life as it appears is the expression, and life as it affects us is the experience. How it affects us is determined by us–and this is not something that is understood by most people.

The eternal cycle of process/expression/experience is Divinity Itself. It is God, godding.

This is the manifestation of the Presence of Cycles. All things respond to this presence. All things exist in cycles. All things have their being within the system–and there is nothing outside of that system.

Where ‘Attraction’ comes in

Attraction is part of this system, as are the other great Principles of Life. Conscious use of the Principles that are the foundation of the Process of Personal Creation produces an Expression of life that leads to the Experience of Divinity.

Are you tracking me here? Stay close to me. Keep tracking. Re-read a few words if you wish to. Keep tracking.

Now…just as physics explains and controls the physical aspects and elements of our lives, so, too, do metaphysics explain and control the larger-than-physical aspects and elements of our lives.

Attraction is part of those metaphysics. It is an energy magnet. It pulls to itself everything like itself. It obeys, absolutely, the principle: Like Attracts Like.

This energy magnet, this Power from God, is being used by us in the Process of Personal Creation–and it is being used all the time, whether we are aware of it or not, whether we acknowledge it or not.

So now, when discussing our own power to produce our own reality, we never again have to ask, “Where is God in all of this?”

Now we know.

Next week, Conscious vs Unconscious Choice. Are we creating things without knowing it??? See you then!

Love and Hugs,

Neal

Letters to the Editor

Dear Neale…What is going on with this “burning the Qur’an” thing? Why would any body do such a thing, to say nothing of a Christian minister doing it? It just feels wrong for a minister to sow such hatred. And look what it has caused! They’re killing innocent people in Afghanistan because of this man. And what would CWG have to say about him and what he did? — RW, San Diego, CA

Neale Responds

Dear RW…We are talking here about the Rev. Terry Jones, who is the pastor of a congregation numbering about 50 at the Dove World Outreach Center in Gainesville, Florida. What CWG would say about him is that he is an individuation of God, an expression of Divinity, and that there is no such thing as Right and Wrong. We are in the process here on this earth of creating Who and What the Totality of Life (which I call “God”) is going to be. We are God, godding. We are Divinity, in the process of expressing itself. We are doing this individually and collectively.

If there is a part of God (or Life…the words are interchangeable, says CWG) which does not fit our personal decision about God, or our definition of God (“Every act is an act of Self-Definition.”–CWG), we have the ability in any moment to change that. We do so by our Thoughts, Words, and Deeds (the Three Tools of Creation–CWG). So if you disagree with how Rev. Jones has defined what God is all about, you may now, in the context of his actions and choices, express Thoughts, Words, and Actions that send a different picture and a different definition of God, of Life, of Christianity, into the world. In so doing, you add to the data of the Universe about all this–and the cumulative data creates a larger and larger picture of God, and Life, and Christianity (or anything else you are seeking to create a picture of…do you get it?).

So when I see something in the world that is not in agreement with or in harmony with my own definition or understanding or choice and decision about God, I immediately look to see what is or would be in harmony with it, and think about that, and talk about that, and act like that. This is a powerful response; it is a creative response; it is a proactive response; and it is a loving response.

Negativity only breeds negativity. It cannot produce anything else. Negativity is not “bad,” nor is it “wrong.” It is simply what it is: negativity. The negative side of a magnet is not “bad,” nor is it the “wrong” side. It is simply the negative side of the magnet. The magnet holds no value judgment about it. Yet if the magnet held a consciousness, and if it wanted to experience attraction rather than repulsion, it would simply turn itself around. It would not make itself wrong for having its negative end pointed outward. It would simply notice that such a positioning does not work if it wishes to attract something, rather than repel everything. So the magnet simply turns around.

This is what “revolution” is all about. We simply revolve. We turn around.

So Rev. Jones has put a thought into the world about the Qur’an, and about Islam, and about some people who he labels as “radical Muslims.” Do you agree with that thought? Is it the grandest version of the greatest vision ever you held about Who You Are? If it is not, simply turn it around. Then demonstrate your new thought about it in everything you do and say today. This is called the New Thought Movement. It is when you move away from an old thought and toward a new thought. It is when you drop our Old Cultural Story and embrace–indeed, write–a New Cultural Story.

You are writing humanity’s New Cultural Story with the living of your life right now. What shall that story be?
Love, NDW

Neal

Notes From Neale

Hello, Everyone…

We are exploring here the Five Natural Emotions: Grief, Anger, Envy, Fear, and Love. These emotions are tools, gifts given to us by God with which to build a letter life. In the last three weeks we looked at Grief, Anger, and Envy. Today, an exploration of Love.

Love is a Natural Emotion. When it is allowed to be expressed, and received, by a child, normally and naturally, without limitation or condition, inhibition or embarrassment, it does not require anything more. For the joy of love expressed and received in this way is sufficient unto itself. Yet love which has been conditioned, limited, warped by rules and regulations, rituals and restrictions, controlled, manipulated, and withheld, becomes unnatural.

Children who are made to feel that their natural love is not okay–that it is wrong to express it, and that, in fact, they shouldn’t even experience it–will have a difficult time appropriately dealing with love as adults.

Love that is continually repressed becomes possessiveness, a very unnatural emotion. People have killed because of possessiveness. Wars have started, nations have fallen.

People love to be in love. Yet “love” is a big word. It is the biggest word in the language. Any language.

What is love, really? Conversations with God has a lot to say on this subject. Among other things, it says that love is a decision, not a reaction. That may be one of the most important things anyone could ever say on the subject. True love is never the result of how another person looks, behaves, or interacts with us. It is a choice to be loving no matter how that other looks, behaves or interacts with us.

This does not mean that true love requires us to stay in a relationship that is abusive. Do not confuse the words “love” and “relationship.” We are not proving that we love someone by staying in a relationship. Indeed, there are instances when we may be proving we love them by leaving. So it is not true that love demands that we accept abuse from the one that we love.

If a person is abusive to us, it is abusive to that person to allow their abuse to continue. For if we allow their abuse to continue, what do we teach them? Yet if we make it clear that the abuse in unacceptable, what then have they learned?

Of course, it is true that no one can ever really “get out” of a relationship. We are always in relationship with each other, and the only thing that changes is the form the relationship takes. You cannot end a relationship, you can only change it. So do not think in terms of ending your relationship, think in terms of changing it. You may wish to change its form, or you may wish to hold onto the form, but change its characteristics within that form.

Choosing to love someone — truly love them — is a very high act. It is the mark of a Master. Loving someone as a “reaction” is a somewhat less elevated experience. It is the mark of a student. The danger of loving someone as a reaction is that the one we love may change. In fact, it is a certainty that they will. They may gain weight, or lose it. They may alter their personality. They may change their ideas about something important to us. And if we are in love with what others bring to us in relationship, we could be headed for enormous disappointment.

So we come to the second big truth about all this: love is not about what the other brings to you, it is about what you bring to the other. Indeed, the purpose of all love relationships is to provide us with an opportunity to decide and to declare, to be and to express, to become and to fulfill, Who We Really Are.

This is perhaps another way of restating the first truth, because Who We Really Are is a choice, not a response. It is a decision, not a reaction – although it is true that most people think it is the other way around.

When I talk to young people about love, I tell them that there are two questions having to do with life and relationship that everyone would benefit from asking.

1. Where am I going?

2. Who is going with me?

It is important to ask these in the right order. Many people switch them around — and suffer for it the rest of their lives. First they ask, who is going with me in my life? Then they ask, where am I going? Often, the choice of destination is conditioned and compromised by the choice of companion. This can make for a very rough journey.

I remember how at one of our spiritual renewal retreats (we have one coming up in July, called The Conversation School–a 7-day event with only 18 participants ) one young woman in her twenties asked sadly, “What does it feel like to be in love?” I told her I could not answer for anyone else, but I know what it feels like to me. It feels like there is only one of us in the room.

When I am with my beloved other, Em, it feels as if there is no place where “I” end and “she” begins. When I look into Em’s eyes, it is like looking into my own. When I sense that Em is sad, it is as if the sadness pierces my own heart. When she smiles, the heart of me smiles with her — as her. I wish I could feel this way about everyone. That is what I am working toward. I am feeling it with more and more people very day.

A Course in Miracles says, “No special relationships.” In other words, no one person should be more special to us than another. That is how God experiences love. There is no condition, and no one is more special than another.

It is difficult for most people to understand that. How can God love us all equally, the “good” and the “bad” alike? It is because God does not see any of us as “good” or “bad.” We are all perfect in God’s eyes, no matter how we are behaving. Human beings have a long way to go before they can claim that. Most of us place condition after condition on our love, and we are very fast to withdraw it when those conditions are not met.

So the third great truth about love is that it knows no conditions. There is no such thing as “I love you IF…” in God’s world.

The fourth great truth about love is that it knows no limitations. Love is freedom, experienced. Total and absolute freedom. And so one who loves another never seeks to restrict or limit that other in any way. This is a tough one for many people. For many, love translates, roughly, into “ownership.” Not that this is ever expressed, of course. It is simply felt. It is a felt sense of “you’re mine.” Of course, in true love nothing could be further from the truth. And in true love, such ideas or thoughts are never part of the paradigm. No one owns anyone, and no one acts as if they do.

This has major implications, as one might imagine. So now I am going to list the fifth, and perhaps the most “controversial,” truth about love that I know.

Love never says no. Not to persons of equal maturity and intelligence. (We are not talking about children here. Let’s limit this discussion to adults.)

No matter what the request of the beloved, love says yes. This does not mean that personal opinions are not expressed, nor personal preferences announced. But, in the end, a request from the beloved is never denied.

Again, that is difficult for many people to grapple with. Yet this is the way that God loves. I am fond of saying in my lectures and retreats that God has only one word in Her vocabulary. God always says yes. No matter what you want, no matter what you choose, He never says no.

This idea can be reduced to two-words: God allows.

Since Conversations with God teaches that the words “God” and “love” are interchangeable, you could then say, “love allows.”

In the end, that is what love does. Love allows. It never restricts, it never limits, it never stops, it only allows. In true love relationships, you get to have what you want.

The sixth truth about love is that it always renews itself. It never runs out.

As a regular ritual in our marriage, Em and I exchange our wedding vows every year on our anniversary. We have a whole wedding ceremony, with a minister, invited guests, the dinner and cake…the whole nine yards. Now some of our married friends have told us that they love this idea and that they are now doing it on their anniversary! ;o)

It’s so rewarding when we see something like that happen! It’s as if Love Itself has multiplied Itself, with us as the instrument. And you, too, can be, equally, an instrument of Love’s Multiplication. With every thought you think, with every word you speak, with every action you take.

Love is a natural emotion. When we are allowed to express it fully in every day in every way, we come alive, through the direct experience of Who We Really Are.

I have enjoyed writing this series of articles on the Five Natural Emotions. And next week is Open Forum Week here at the Bulletin. I will write about whatever you choose. So if you’ve like me to cover a particular topic from the CWG cosmology, just drop me a note at neale@nealedonaldwalsch.com, and put the word TOPIC in the subject line. I’ll be sure to open those first!

Until next week…

Love and Hugs,

Letters to the Editor

Dear Neale As the world reels to deal with global events, I find that some of my friends are having a difficult time coping with the daily news. Some of them have even taken to avoiding the news altogether. Any suggestions on what I could tell them? Carolyn, Topeka, Kansas

Neale Responds

Dear Carolyn…Putting your head in the sand like an ostrich is not the most personally beneficial or effective way of dealing with our world as it is. Simply pretending that something isn’t there does not make it disappear. Rather, it makes it loom larger in our reality when it cannot help but appear, when one has no choice but to look at it. Tell your friends that it is how you look at something, not whether you look at it.

I see the same difficulties and human tragedies and challenges that everyone else sees…but I see in them something that many others do not: opportunity. I try to experience every moment in life as an opportunity to announce and declare, express and fulfill, become and experience Who I Really Am. Life is creating for all of humanity now a Contextual Field, filled with the right and perfect people and events allowing us to move ever rapidly forward in the evolution of our entire species.

It may seem that evolution should not require the death of thousands and the pain of millions, yet life has always required, from the very beginning, the contribution, in those ways, of many of us, so that All Of Us might move forward in the Process of the Soul—which is a process of self realization. It is only when I understand that death does not exist, and that pain is not the same as suffering, that I can embrace the process that Life exhibits everywhere in the Universe…in the swallowing up of entire stars systems in black holes, and in the swallowing up of entire villages in tsunamis, and in the swallowing up of entire lives in the events, both wonderful and not so wonderful, of our own day-to-day.

I look at life as a continual playing out of God’s Plan—which is more of a process than a blueprint—and I know that this Plan has nothing in mind but the best for me. Is it possible that the most horrific events of human life, such as, indeed, the Japan tragedy, or the Libyan struggle, or the loss of homes to foreclosure in America? I believe that the answer is yes, and I understand that it may seem and sound callous to suggest that this is so. Yet when we step back from the tapestry to see the entire picture, I believe we will see the wonder of the entire unfolding, and even, if we look deeply enough, the reasons for it. For now, I invite us all to just Keep The Faith! And so do the very best we can to remain as Sources of Light and Love through all the moments of darkness.

Love, NDW

Hugs and love,
Neal

Notes from
Neale…

My dear friends…

We have been discussing here A New Theology, and last week we said
that The New Theology tells us that it is possible to "know God."
This is a departure from most present-day theologies on the earth,
which teach just the opposite. It is not possible to truly or
fully know God, they say — and, indeed, some even assert that it
is against the Will of God that we do so…and so, we ought not even
try, but simply accept what we have been taught and told about God
on faith.

Yet is it a "sin" to seek to know God? Is it an offense against God
to question what we have been told about God? Is it blasphemy,
heresy, apostasy to offer a new understanding of God…simply to
offer
it, as an invitation to explore what we might now fully
understand?

No. The answer is no, it is not a sin, it is not an offense against
God, to question what we think we understand about God, or to even
offer a new understanding. Yet from where would a new understanding
come? If knowledge of God is possible, from where would such
knowledge arise?

Well, as it turns out, it would arise from the most surprising
place: You.

This is, at least, what The New Theology teaches. Its foundational
premise is that God is not in any way separate from anything that
Is. God is, according to this idea, the Creator and the Created. The
Alpha and the Omega. The Beginning and the End.

God exists in, as, and through All Things. Life is the expression of
God Itself. All of physicality is an expression of Divinity. This
would include You. Therefore, to know God, know yourself.

And then, once having come to know yourself, recreate your Self anew
in every golden moment of Now, in the next grandest version of the
greatest vision ever you held about who you are. This is said to be
the purpose of all of Life.

Life exists for God to know Itself. And God comes to know Itself
through You, knowing Your Self — and then expressing Your
Self as Who You Really Are.

Let’s explore that a bit further. God, it has been said by nearly
every religion, is Divine Love, personified. If that is true (and it
is), and if it is also true that You and God are One (and it is),
then YOU are Divine Love, personified. The only difference is, you
may not know it. When you know it, you become Divine. You become
Divinity Expressed.

So, the fastest way to know God is to know Love, and the fastest way
to know Love is to BE Love. If you want to know something, BE it. It
is from a state of Pure Being that Knowing and Experiencing arises.

Often, we think that we must experience something before we can "be"
it. Yet in life it is really just the other way around. What you
decide to be, you experience. And "being" is an arbitrary decision.

To illustrate: you can decide to "be" the thing called "happy" no
matter what is going on around you. Happiness is not dependent on
outer events, but on inner. This is something that every Master
knows — and that every student seeks to experience.

Yet what the Master knows, the Master experiences, and what the
student seeks to experience, the student cannot know, for knowing
must come before experiencing, not after, and being must come before
knowing.

That may be, right there, the most important statement and the most
clear cut explanation of The New Theology. What I said was:

What the Master knows, the Master experiences, and what the
student seeks to experience, the student cannot know, for knowing
must come before experiencing, not after, and being must come before
knowing.

Seek, therefore, a State of Being, first, and all ways, and Knowing
and Experiencing will inevitably follow. Yet how to seek a State of
Being?

Ah, yes…a good question for another week. We will see you here in
seven days

Love and Hugs,

Neale.

Further
explorations of the Conversations with God material from the
author

Neale Donald Walsch
through the years has given hundreds of talks and written scores of
articles revolving around the messages he received in his
Conversations with God. Now, every seven days, we will present in
this space a transcript or reprint of those presentations. We invite
you to Copy and Save each one of them, creating a personal a
collection of contemporary and uplifting spiritual thought which you
may reference at any time. We hope you will find this a constant
source of insight and inspiration.

The Daily Decision

Who are you and who do you choose to be?

It
feels to me as if every day is an invitation to choose between Big
Self and Little Self…or what visionary Barbara Marx Hubbard would
call Universal Self/Local Self.

Who do I want to be today? Who do I want to be right now? Do
I want to be Big Neale or Little Neale? Do I want to experience
myself in the space of Creation or Reaction? Do I choose this moment
to be about the Dance or the Drama?

I don’t want to simplify things here, because this is a very complex
experience we are having, this thing we call our "life", but when
one gets right down to it, that is the question. Who do I want to be
right now?

Conversations with God says that every act is an act of self
definition. That puts things rather simply, and even a little
bluntly. It makes it very clear that every single thing we think,
do, and say defines and recreates who we are. Now the only question
is, do we want to decide who we are beforehand, or do
we want to find out who we are afterward?

I mean, in the space of any event or moment, do we want to
experience our Selves as an Afterthought, or a Forethought? As a
Creation, or a Reaction? Which?

Then, following the making of that choice, what do we wish to
experience of ourselves? Do we wish to experience ourselves being
Big or Little? We can make either selection, whether we are coming
from Creation OR Reaction. We can CREATE ourselves as the Big Us, or
we can REACT in a way that demonstrates our Big Us. And the same for
the Little Us.

The Big Us has no attachments, no fears, no needs, no requirements
of anyone or anything, and no thought but love, peace, joy,
forgiveness, compassion, and caring. (Yes, you can have "caring"
without "attachment.") The Little Us lives in doubt, hesitation,
fear, nervousness, sadness, disappointment, anger, and
self-absorbtion.

The Big Us is not concerned about the Self at all, because it knows
that the Self does not even exist. Not as a Separate Entity with
separate needs and a worry about its survival and happiness. The
Little Us is only concerned about the Self because it thinks
that the Self actually exists as a thing apart and separate from the
Whole. It believes that the Self has needs and requirements and that
it somehow might not survive.

Not surviving is not possible, but this is something that the Little
Self does not know. Every day is a journey, and the difference is
that the Big Self knows where it is going and the Little Self does
not. It has no idea where it is headed or what it is doing, and so
it goes around in circles, facing the same problems and encountering
the same feelings every day — usually sadness and disapppointment,
followed by resignation and then, even bitterness and rage.

The Big Self has a Larger Agenda and the Little Self thinks that
life is about this afternoon’s appointment or tomorrow’s deadline or
the weekend’s opportunity for at least a tiny bit of fun in this
life…

The Big Self wants to do nothing but dance and the Little Self seeks
only the drama. When the problem is solved, the Little Self does not
know what to do. So it goes out and creates another problem. The Big
Self sees nothing as a problem, and cannot get into a "drama"
if it wanted to.

The movement from Little Self to Big Self can be made in the blink
of an eye — and, the trick is staying there.

I want to explore this business of Big Self/Little Self this week,
examining the whole concept further, and much more deeply. I’ll
enjoy being with you in the discussion.

Oh, and remind me to tell you about Farfur.
